The Jays' newest shortstop knows that in all things it is God who gives him strength.

Bo Bichette describes himself as a "believer who happens to play ball."

An 11-game hitting streak began his career in the baseball big leagues, setting a league record with at least one double play in nine games straight. But his impressive skills behind the plate are only one component of his character, Sports Spectrum reports.

The athlete often shares his faith on his social media, even stating in his Twitter bio "IJNIP" ("In Jesus’ Name I Play") and labelling himself a "Believer" on his Instagram bio.

What a week so far. God is good!

"God is good!" Bichette shared in one of his most recent posts to Instagram. He quotes Ephesians 4:29 in another, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen."

Already, Bichette is the first player with 12 extra base hits in his first 11 games. The player, 21, has 22 hits in his for 60 times at the bat in the MLB.

In an interview with TSN, Bichette said he'd be lying if he said he thought he'd be breaking records upon entering Major League Baseball. "But I do expect to play well and I think those records are a byproduct of putting in the work and going out there and being aggressive, and trying to treat the game like any other game,” he said.

That determined mindset may have been influenced by his father, Dante, who himself played ball for the Colorado Rockies and was a four-time All-Star. Dante says his son has told him since the age of three that he was destined to play in the majors.

Bichette, it seems, has acknowledged his dream but continues to strive for more. In a post made 11 weeks ago, he quoted James 1:4, “Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.”
