You can now add Winnipeg to the (very long) list of places affected by the adverse weather.

Environment Canada has issued a blowing snow advisory for the City of Winnipeg.

Strong west to northwest winds associated with an intense low-pressure system over northern Ontario are combining with flurry activity in the Red River Valley to produce localized pockets of near zero visibility. Visibilities may vary widely over just a few kilometers.

Winds are expected to remain between 50 to 60 km/h with localized gusts to 80 km/h through the overnight period before tapering off Wednesday morning. Flurry activity will continue into the evening before tapering off overnight, at which time visibilities are expected to improve.

Travel is expected to be hazardous due to reduced visibility in some locations.

If traveling, be prepared for areas of near-zero visibility.

The following areas are currently under blizzard warnings (red) and blowing snow advisories (grey).
