RCMP say a suspect who they believe sexually assaulted a teen in Alberta may have contacted other young girls in Manitoba through social media.

A 27-year-old man is being charged by Fort Saskatchewan RCMP with a list of charges including Possession of Child Pornography for the Purpose of Publication and Child Luring.

RCMP say the man used social media accounts such as Instagram and Snapchat to connect with young girls. They say he used “Shakenbake_2, Shakenbake_3” and possibly any other derivatives to contact the underage girls.

Authorities say in January, the suspect began contacting a 14-year-old girl through social media. They say he asked for nude photos of the girl and sent her nude photos and videos of himself.

Escalating his behaviour, the suspect then made arrangements to meet the girl. Taking the teen to a secluded area, she was then sexually assaulted.

The suspect, Kenneth Bardilas of Whitecourt, is being charged with:

  • Sexual Assault
  • Sexual Interference
  • Invitation to Sexual Touching
  • Child Luring x3
  • Accessing Child Pornography
  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Possession of Child Pornography for the Purpose of Publication
  •

RCMP say additional charges may be pending. The suspect's next court appearance is scheduled for October 29, 2020.

Authorities believe there could be more victims across the country.

They are asking anyone who has had contact with Bardilas or has communicated with him via social media (Snapchat or Instagram) to contact the Fort Saskatchewan RCMP at 780-997-7900.
