Winnipeg will play host this summer to a number of noted Christian apologists and philosophers, and you will have the chance to learn from them.

Ravi Zacharias International Ministries' "Understanding and Answering Summit on Human Rights" will take place July 12-15, 2017 at CMU (Canadian Mennonite University).

Dave Kenny, a volunteer affiliate for RZIM in Winnipeg, is excited about the event.

"One of the really neat things that RZIM does to resource the church is offer hands-on, classroom training directly from our apologists for people who want to get trained and develop in the field of apologetics"

For RZIM, Kenny says, apologetics is all about evangelism. "We use the tool of apologetics - of defending the faith - to share Jesus with others. An easy way to put it is that it's a 'clearing of the bushes' so that a person - a non-believer - can have a clear, unobstructed, view of Jesus. We think that what most people think of when they think of Jesus and Christianity is distorted. So the apologist needs to move the bushes out of the way so that they get the clear view of Christ."

People who sign up for the complete summit will receive training from a number of experienced apologists. Most notable among them, perhaps, are Andy Bannister and Abdu Murray.

Registration is currently reduced at a special early bird rate of 20% off but that special pricing ends at the end of March. Kenny notes that there are also bursaries available for college students. You can register online here.

A highlight of the week is a separate event being held at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. Dr. Andy Bannister and Dr. Christopher DiCarlo will participate in a dialogue on the topic "Human rights: by design or default." This will give a chance for those in attendance to participate in the dialogue with their own questions. Tickets for the evening or also available on the website.

There will also be a special event for high school students following the summit.
