Roads and highways throughout southern Manitoba are coated in ice Tuesday morning, making for a tricky drive to work.

Freezing drizzle "has just caked to everything, leaving a sheer coat of ice," one caller tells CHVN. The semi driver says he's reducing his speeds on highways north of Winnipeg to 70 km/h.

Manitoba Infrastructure is reporting virtually all highways surrounding the City of Winnipeg as having ice-covered sections.

Another caller says that a semi jackknifed on the Trans-Canada highway near Oakville around 6 a.m. and another semi was in the ditch near Portage la Prairie.

Inside city limits, the City of Winnipeg says, "Ice control activities, including salting and sanding, are undertaken city-wide to improve traction on roadways as conditions warrant on bridge decks and overpasses, as well as P1, P2 and P3 streets as required."
