At 5:00 a.m. the temperature in downtown Winnipeg is already 25 degrees, with humidity in the city ranging from 84 to 91 per cent. That makes the temperature feel more like 34 degrees, and it's only going to get hotter and stickier as the day goes by.

Environment Canada is forecasting sunshine this morning then a mix of sun and cloud this afternoon.

There will be only a light breeze to help cool the skin from a high of 30. With the humidity, Environment Canada says it will feel more like 38 degrees.

Mike McDonald from Environment Canada says that slight breeze is to blame for the sticky air mass, as it pushes from the south.

There is a small risk of thunderstorms this afternoon for most of Manitoba. McDonald says that western Manitoba is seeing some strong thunderstorms as of 5:00 a.m.

McDonald says that it's important that people remember to stay hydrated today. He also suggests staying out of the sun if you are able.
