A local producer is searching for extras to be part of a crowd for his movie about the Winnipeg Strike.

Danny Schur is a local movie producer who is looking for 300 volunteers to be part of his movie about the 1919 Winnipeg General Strike. The self-costumed extras will be simulating the crowds for the strike. Volunteers must be 12 or older.

Shur is the composer and producer of the musical Strike!, which he is now turning into a movie.

Volunteers can email strikeextras@gmail.com to pre-register their spot for Thursday, August 23. Shur says it will be a 12-hour day but believes enough people are willing to honour the legacy of the Strike.

Known as "Bloody Saturday" in Winnipeg, June 21, 1919, was the violent culmination of the six-week general strike. Thousands gathered in streets and parks in protest.
