Three people were arrested following a police chase late last week that ended in a crash.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday, officers spotted a stolen GMC Envoy near Portage Avenue and Main Street.

The driver of the vehicle sped off, leading police to request the assistance of Air1 to help officers on the ground follow the vehicle.

The vehicle took off westbound on Portage Avenue before eventually turning north onto Colony Street heading straight into oncoming traffic. It eventually stopped on Pacific Avenue after colliding with an uninvolved vehicle and narrowly missing a pedestrian at a crosswalk.

The suspects fled the vehicle, and Air1 maintained a visual on the three suspects, who were safely taken into custody near a residence on Alexander Avenue.

A 29-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman were arrested and are facing numerous charges, including flight while pursued by peace officer, dangerous operation of a conveyance and break enter and commit – dwelling house. Both remain in custody.

A third suspect, a 26-year-old man, was arrested and released on an Undertaking as mandated by the Criminal Code.
