Two Cineplex and one Landmark Cinemas theatres are now open to the public in Winnipeg as phase 4 became effective July 25 across Manitoba.

Tickets will be sold for only $5 and the theatres will be playing popular new releases and summer favourites.

Theatres at St. Vital and CF Polo Park will be showing movies, as well as Grant Park Mall.

Ellis Jacob, the President and CEO, Cineplex says, "The past four months have given us a new appreciation for the importance of friends and family and the power of shared experiences with those we love."

Safety guidelines and COVID-19 regulations are in place for both cinema companies as they welcome the public back.

Cineplex announced their safety practices include:

  • reserved seating
  • enhanced cleaning practices
  • debit or credit only
  • limited concessions
  • employees will wear PPE

Landmark Cinemas will have similar practices in place for public safety.

The government has said theatres can hold 30 per cent of the site's capacity or 500 people in phase 4, whichever is low when it comes to theatres and stage performances.

More theatres will open up over the week, including ones in Brandon and Winkler.
