The 2019 Tim Horton's Brier, which is set to take place in Brandon, Man. next March is looking for approximately 175 people to round out its volunteer base.

"Now that it's the fall season and curling is getting going again, it's time to put the Brier back in people's minds," said Ryan Shields, vice chair of special events for the 2019 Brier. "Jobs range from anywhere in The Patch, to scoring, program sales, game day activities and that sort of stuff, so there is a wide range of spots we're looking to fill."

Shields says for people who live in the Brandon or Westman area, volunteering is a chance for them to show some civic pride and work towards making an event in their city run smoothly on a national scale. He says they are also welcoming anyone from outside the area who wants to volunteer.

"The whole city is going to be electric for 10-12 days and we need volunteers to make this run smoothly and that way we can hopefully bring more events like it to the Wheat City," Shields said. "We have people coming from all over Canada to volunteer. It's open to anyone who wants to be involved."

Shields says registration is $100, and volunteers get a free jacket, golf shirt and a pass that gives them access to all of the Brier events.

He says you can register online by visiting curling.ca/2019brier.

The 2019 Brier runs from March 2-10, 2019 at Westoba Place in Brandon.
