Northern Main Street experienced some delays this morning because of a serious collision, and now some details have been released.

At approximately 4 a.m. this morning, North District General Patrol officers observed a male driving a stolen Lincoln Mark pick-up truck near Inkster Boulevard and St. Cross Street.

As officers were arriving at the area, at Main Street and Belmont Avenue, the stolen truck collided with a WPS cruiser resulting in a serious motor vehicle collision.

Two officers were transported to the hospital and treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The lone male driver was taken into custody and treated for his injuries.

The investigation is continuing by the Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) section.

The Independent Investigative Unit of Manitoba (IIU) has been notified.

Northbound and southbound Main Street, from Kilbride to Hartford remain closed until further notice. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and find another route.
