A man is in critical condition and two women have been arrested after a stabbing Friday night in downtown Winnipeg.

The WPS says they were called around 6 p.m. on May 10 to a report of a male stabbed in Central Park.

Police say they found a man in his 50s in the park. He was suffering from "serious, upper-body stab wounds." He was transported to hospital where he remains in critical condition.

Two women, a 35-year-old and a 25-year-old were arrested in relation to the incident. Both have been charged with Aggravated Assault and remain in custody.

Police have not said what might have led to the altercation or motive. The investigation continues.
