The Manitoba RCMP says that two people are dead after a truck collided with a train Monday afternoon in Headingley.

Headingly RCMP responded to the scene just before 4:30 p.m.

Officers have determined that the pickup truck, being driven by a 75-year-old male with a 65-year-old female passenger, both from the RM of Headingley, was eastbound on Roblin Blvd. when it was struck by the northbound train.

Both the male driver and female passenger were pronounced deceased on scene.

The truck was pushed onto a rail bridge over the Assiniboine River before the train was able to come to a complete stop. The Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Service team also responded to the call for the safety of emergency workers.
