A woman in her 20s has been charged with second-degree murder by Winnipeg police.

Police say the woman, 22, was arrested Friday in connection to a male who died after he was assaulted.

The man, 20, was found by police with life-threatening injuries in the 1600 block of Burrows Avenue. He had first been assaulted in the 100 block of Gilbert Avenue.

Officers performed emergency CPR immediately upon finding the man. He was taken to hospital by ambulance in critical condition where he died from his injuries.

The woman has been detained in custody. Police say she had been arrested the previous evening.

An adult suspect has also been taken into custody but no charges have been laid at this time.
